Section 2.      There shall be no form or class of membership except, as Active, and dues shall be paid annually, Paid-Up-For-Life and Life Member.

Section 3.      No Person, at any time may be a member of more than this Post.

Section 4.      An applicant for membership shall present an application, signed by a member in good standing, and proof of eligibility in the American Legion, to any Post Officer or to the Membership Chair, who shall verify the discharge document, complete and sign the application.

The Executive Committee at its regular meeting shall review said application. Said application then shall be presented to the members at the next regular meeting. If the application is approved, the candidate shall then be presented for induction into the American Legion at the third Tuesday of the month's regular meeting.

One day of active Honorable military service during any one of the eligibility periods in Section 1, above fully qualifies a veteran for membership in the American Legion.

Section 5.      The Post Executive Committee may from time to time, prescribe such regulations under which application for membership, in writing, shall be made.

Section 6.      All applications for membership shall be acted upon at the next Post meeting following the making of such application, and shall, at such meeting, be accepted, rejected or referred for further investigation and consideration. If a majority of members present cast their vote against the acceptance of said applicaiton, then such application shall be recorded as rejected. A rejected application shall not again be considered until after the expiration of six months from the date of such rejection.

Section 7.      Any member of this Post may be expelled for cause by a two-thirds vote of the Executive Committee after charges are preferred under oath in writing, and a fair trial had upon the same.

Section 8.      A member who has been expelled or suspended from this Post for any cause may be reinstated to membership by a two-thirds vote of the membership present in a Post meeting, and the payment of current dues for the year in which the reinstatement occurs.

Section 9.      No person who has been expelled by a Post shall be admitted to membership in the Post, without the consent of the expelling Post, except that where such consent has been asked for and denied by such Post, the person may then appeal to the State for membership in this Post, and shall be ineligible for membership until such permission is granted.

ARTICLE V - OFFICERS (amended in 1996)

Section 1.      The administrative affairs of this Post of The American Legion shall, except as may be otherwise provided by the By-Laws, be under the supervision of an Executive Committee, which shall consist of one Immediate Past Commander in addition to the elected officers of the Post. The term of office by members of the Executive Committee shall be for one year. This Post, by its By-Laws, may provide for such other standing committees as the business of the organization may require.

Section 2.      The elected officers of this Post shall be a Commander, two Vice Commanders, an Adjutant, a Finance Officer, a Service Officer, a Post Chaplain, a Historian, a Sergeant-At-Arms, a Judge Advocate and such other officers as may be deemed necessary by this organization, who shall be nominated from the floor at the regular meeting preceding the annual elections.

Section 3.      All officers and Executive Committee members shall be elected annually and they shall hold office until their successors are duly installed or as otherwise provided. The Executive Committee may remove any officer or Executive Committee member for inefficiency. A two-thirds vote of said committee is necessary to effect such removal.

Section 4.      Every member of this Post in good standing shall be eligible to hold office in this Post, except as otherwise provided in Section 2, Article III hereof.

Section 5.      The duties of officers and the Executive Committee shall be those usually appertaining to such officers or committee members and as further provided in the By-Laws.
